Description
Ghyll House, built in the early 18th century, features an incised stucco front with painted quoins, while the rear outshuts are pebble-dashed. The house has a graduated slate roof with brick chimneys at each end. It is a two-storey structure with a three-bay front, which includes a central plank door set within a 20th-century openwork gabled porch and a two-light casement window above. To the right, there is a two-storey canted bay with a mullioned two-light window at the front and single-light returns, while the left side has a mullioned two-light window on each floor. All windows are sashes with glazing bars. The house has been extended by two bays into an adjoining barn on the west end, which features a single casement window on each floor. The outbuildings, constructed of coursed squared rubble, are topped with a continuation of the house's Welsh slate roof, forming a courtyard. Large 20th-century doors have been added to the byre, and the semicircular end of the gin-gang, which projects into the courtyard on the west side, has a 20th-century silo piercing the roof.
