Description

Little Salkeld Viaduct is a railway viaduct built in 1875 by engineer J.S. Crossley for the Midland Railway, as part of the Settle-Carlisle line. It features rock-faced red sandstone masonry with brick soffits to the arches. The structure has seven arches, each with a span of 45 feet, supported by battered piers that include imposts and a continuous band at track level. The viaduct is topped with solid parapets and is located partly in Langwathby Civil Parish.
