Description
Nunwick Old Hall is a house built in the early 18th century. It features painted roughcast walls with V-jointed red sandstone quoins and an eaves cornice. The roof is made of graduated greenslate and has banded red sandstone ashlar chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and has four bays. The central entrance consists of a panelled door set in an alternate-block quoined surround. The similar doorways on either side have been partly blocked to create sash windows with glazing bars. The upper-floor sash windows also have glazing bars and are framed by red sandstone architraves. A projecting extension on the lower left includes red sandstone quoins and a flat stone-mullioned window. An integral part of the property is a rusticated gate pier topped with a ball finial. To the right, there is a round-arched doorway leading into the courtyard, which features inscribed shields reading RW and ES 1845.
