Country house. Dated on lead downspouts and over entrance 1892, by C.J. Ferguson for R.H. Thompson; with alterations dated 1899. and 1930s extension, also for Thompson family. Dressed red sandstone with ashlar dressings, on chamfered plinth. Graduated greenslate roof with coped gables, some ball finials and open balustraded parapet; large banded ashlar sandstone chimney stacks. Garden facade is 2 storeys, 3 bays with right projecting wings of irregular height each projecting beyond the other but basically of 4 bays. Left return wall 3 bays, the central bay recessed, and left 2-storey, single-bay 1930s extension in keeping with rest of hall. Garden facade has 2 doors one in surround with 2-light overlight, the other dated and inscribed RHT 1899. Large multilight stone-mullioned windows, the largest with transoms. Left return wall has similar windows which are more regular. Extension has glazed door under fanlight and similar windows. Rear has gabled stone porch and flat-roofed passageway with small round-arched windows, with further left doorway and stone-mullioned windows.
