Description

The Manor House and adjoining outbuilding, dated 1686, is located on Market Street in Flookburgh. The house is constructed of stone rubble, with roughcast walls and ashlar dressings. It features a symmetrical central entrance plan, standing two storeys high with an attic and three bays. The windows are ogee-mullioned, mostly consisting of four lights, except for the central bay on the first floor, which has two lights and a large gabled dormer above with a three-light window, where the central light is raised.

The central entrance boasts richly moulded jambs and a dated embattled lintel, leading to a six-fielded-panel door. There are corbelled gable-end and cross-axial stacks, both topped with round shafts. The left return of the house has a blocked attic light, while the rear features an outshut under a catslide roof. The first bay has three-light mullioned windows on the ground floor and two lights on the first floor. The outshut includes a sashed window with glazing bars on the ground floor, and the first floor has two pairs of lights along with a stair window featuring 20th-century paired sashes with glazing bars and horns. The entrance has a recessed Tudor arch.

Inside, the house contains a screen with moulded studs and plaster infill, a stone fireplace with a corbelled lintel, and ovolo beams. The first floor showcases panelling, possibly old doors, and two-fielded-panel doors, while the principal rafters have curved bases. The outbuildings exhibit varied inserted fenestration and a large entrance. The rear of the outbuildings has an outshut under a catslide roof with two entrances and a window, and the bay to the right features a segmental-headed entrance with pivoted doors and a light above.
