Description

The Crown Inn is a public house located on Market Street in Flookburgh, likely dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with later alterations. The building is constructed of roughcast stone and features a slate roof. It stands two storeys high with four bays; the fourth bay has an attic and projects out, while the third bay forms a quadrant in the angle. The first two bays are lower, and there is a lean-to extension on the left side.

On the ground floor, the first two bays have three segmental-headed windows, with top-hung casements replacing the original sash windows. The first floor has two similar windows. The third bay features a tripartite window with sashed windows that include glazing bars and horns, along with a narrower window on the first floor. The fourth bay has a small-paned attic light. Access to the third bay is via steps leading up to an entrance that has a flat bracketed canopy with a dentilled cornice. The fourth bay has a plain entrance, and there are a cellar opening and a loading door in the third and fourth bays, respectively. The building has two gable-end stacks and a cross-axial stack.

At the rear, there is a single-storey wing to the right and a small flat-roofed extension. The second bay features large sashed windows with glazing bars, while the third and fourth bays have three two-light single-chamfered-mullioned windows and a small-paned stair window.
