Description

The property at 121 Station Road, Lower Holker, is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century and a rear range from the early 18th century. It is constructed of roughcast stone, with a slate roof. The main house is two storeys high and has three bays. The windows are tripartite sashes with vertical glazing bars and horns; a single sash window sits above the entrance. The central entrance features a half-glazed door and a flat-roofed trellis porch. Gable-end stacks are present. The left return shows two gables, leading to a two-bay rear range with a steeper roof. The rear range has sashed windows with thick glazing bars. A later outshut is at the rear, along with two sashes with thick glazing bars to the range's return. Inside the front range, there is a fielded-panel partition wall with a dado rail. One room features similar panelling, with the dado rail in short lengths, and a wall with fluted flat pilasters and round-headed cupboards flanking a fireplace. The staircase has turned balusters, a ramped handrail, and an open string.
