Description

This is an early to mid-19th century farmhouse with an attached cottage, located in Barrow-in-Furness. The farmhouse is built of roughcast stone with a graduated slate roof, while the rear cottage likely dates from the 18th century. The main farmhouse is a two-story, three-bay structure with an outbuilding attached to its left gable. A parallel range extends to the rear right, and a cottage wing is situated to the rear left. The farmhouse features raised quoins and a cellar window on the right side. The central entrance has a nine-panel door set within a stone doorcase, featuring Ionic columns, a pulvinated frieze, and a modillioned pediment. Margin-glazed sash windows are set in raised surrounds. A moulded eaves cornice runs along the top, and there are end stacks. The left outbuilding has no front openings but a tall brick ridge stack. The low, two-story rear wing (Moss Side Cottage) has a pine door in an open-sided timber porch and uPVC casement windows. Inside the farmhouse, the entrance hall is contemporary, with a six-panel door and a staircase with stick balusters and a wreathed handrail. Part-glazed double doors leading down to the rear have Gothick glazing bars.
