Description
Brook Lea is a house from the early to mid-19th century that was altered in the late 19th century. It is constructed of roughcast stone and has a graduated slate roof. The building has two storeys, cellars, and an attic, with a three-bay front. The central porch features a four-pane sash window on the front and a double door on the right side, which has a margin-glazed door with an overlight. The porch is topped with an ogee gutter and a hipped roof. The flanking windows, as well as those on the first floor, are four-pane sashes with projecting stone sills and raised surrounds. There is a later casement window in the central attic, which is set within a gablet. The verges overhang, and there are rendered brick end stacks. At the rear, there is a 20-pane sash window and an old door to the basement on the right side, along with a round-headed stair window featuring Gothick glazing bars. Inside, there are mid-19th century fireplaces in the rear right and front left rooms, a patterned tile floor from the 19th century in the hall, and a late 19th-century staircase. The building is included for its group value.
