Description
Brookside is a farmhouse located in Barrow-in-Furness, dating from the mid-18th century, with an earlier core. The building features painted stucco and a graduated slate roof. It is two storeys high, with a half-basement and attic, and has two windows on the first floor. There is a later lean-to on the left side that is not of special interest. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door framed by an eared architrave, topped with a plain frieze and pediment. The flanking windows on each floor have uPVC casements set in raised ashlar surrounds with projecting sills. The building has shaped gutter brackets and rendered end stacks. At the rear, there is a round-arched stair window with radial glazing bars and an eight-pane sash window to the right. Inside, there is an inbuilt court cupboard in the half-basement dated 'TPA 1691', along with various two- and four-panelled doors featuring old sprung latches. Attached buildings are not of special interest.
