Description
Leavey Holme is a farmhouse dated 1739, as inscribed above the entrance. It features painted roughcast walls and a graduated greenslate roof with coped gables and kneelers. The gable end chimney stacks were rebuilt in the 20th century. The building is two storeys high and has four bays. The central entrance has a 20th-century door set within a pilastered surround, topped with a blind round arch and a false keystone. The windows include sash and casement types, all framed in painted stone surrounds. At the rear, there is a late 18th-century outshut that includes a 20th-century side porch. The adjoining barns are not of interest. Additionally, the will of Hugh Simpson of Levyholme, dated 1729, is held in the Jackson Collection at Carlisle Library.
