Description
Pasture Lane Cottage is a house that was originally a stable or barn, now incorporated into the dwelling. It is dated and inscribed over the entrance with "EMK 1695" and has a reused inscription over an upper floor window reading "WSS 1692". The building features whitewashed rubble walls topped with a 20th-century tile roof and has a squat stone chimney stack. It has two storeys and two bays, with the lower former stable or barn on the right now part of the house. There is a 20th-century door set in a painted chamfered alternate-block surround, along with 20th-century leaded-paned windows in original painted stone surrounds. A small fire window is located to the right. The former stable or barn has a 20th-century door and a loft door above that has been altered to a window. The end wall on the right features a reused three-light window and a similar two-light window above it. At the rear, there is a single-storey outshut with one small original window. The cottage was derelict for many years in the 20th century and was renovated in 1977, as noted in the garden wall. It is one of three properties named Pasture Lane shown on the 1851 tithe map.
