Description

Elm Lodge and Green Way are two houses built in 1735, with a later 18th-century house extension. The houses are constructed with painted incised stucco under a Welsh slate roof, featuring a coped gable and kneeler on the left side, and rendered chimney stacks. They are two storeys high, originally three bays wide, with a two-bay house to the right, all under a shared roof. Elm Lodge has a 20th-century door within a shouldered architrave, topped by a console bracketed cornice. It has sash windows with glazing bars in painted stone surrounds, with a smaller, plain sash window above the entrance. Green Way features a 20th-century door within a gabled brick porch and sash windows in painted stone surrounds. A 20th-century casement window is located to the left of the entrance, within an enlarged surround. The houses occupy an important position, enclosing the village green to the south. Green Way is included on the list solely for group value.
