Description

The Garage, formerly known as the Filling Station, is a commercial garage that likely dates from the late 18th century. It features roughcast walls beneath a hipped roof made of graduated local slate. The building is two storeys high and has two bays, presenting as a small square structure. The wall facing the cross includes 20th-century sliding garage doors, which were previously used for the coach house. Above these doors, there is a casement window with glazing bars set in a painted stone surround, along with similar windows on the sides. On the right side, external stone steps lead up to a plank door, also in a painted stone surround, which was the former meeting room. The building has group value with the Market Cross.
