Description

Salkeld Gate is a house dating from the late 18th century. It features incised painted stucco walls beneath a graduated greenslate roof, complemented by red sandstone ashlar banded chimney stacks. The building has two storeys and three bays, although it was originally designed with four bays. The entrance includes a panelled door with an overlight set in a painted stone surround. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are also framed in painted stone surrounds, although the window above the door has been blocked. The rear barn, now known as Southdene, is not of interest.
