Description
Hay Close Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1713, featuring the initials I. & K.F. on the quoin of the rear wing. The building is constructed from wet-dashed rubble with quoins and has graduated slate roofs. It is two storeys high and has a symmetrical main house with three bays. The central entrance consists of a plank door with a rectangular fanlight above it, flanked by paired sash windows on either side, and three additional sashes on the upper floor, all dating from the 19th century. The farmhouse has stepped cylindrical chimneys at each end. There is a 19th-century wing attached to the east end, while the original rear wing includes a wood-mullioned seven-light window on the ground floor. A glazed porch and a single-storey addition to the 19th-century wing are noted but are not of particular interest.
