Description
Plumtree Hall is a house, now functioning as an Old Persons' Home, built around 1820 with later alterations and additions. The building is constructed from limestone ashlar and features rusticated quoins. It has a shallow-pitched hipped roof made of graduated greenslate, with overhanging eaves and two end chimneys, including one on the gable of the right-hand pavilion. The structure consists of a three-storey central block flanked by two-storey pavilions.
The central block has three 19th-century sash windows with glazing bars on the upper floor, and two later bay windows with tripartite sashes on the ground floor, which flank a central projecting porch. This porch is supported by Ionic columns and features an entablature. The entrance includes a six-panelled door topped by a semi-circular fanlight with traceried glazing bars and moulded impost blocks.
The connecting wings to the pavilions have 20th-century windows in the original door openings, with 19th-century gabled dormers above. Each gabled pavilion has a single sash window on the first floor; the right-hand pavilion has a tripartite sash window in a segmental-headed reveal on the ground floor, while the left-hand pavilion has its reveal mostly blocked with a 20th-century window inserted.
The interior has not been inspected.
