Description

The Dickinson Table Tomb, located south of the southeast corner of the Church of St Peter in Heversham, is a table tomb with the earliest inscription dating to 1763, although it was likely erected in 1770. It features a stone slab top with sides decorated with two lozenges and a central panel. The west end panel displays an angel's head with wings, while the east end panel has a lozenge.

The inscription reads:

"HERE lieth interred JANE the loving and (?) WIFE of Mr JOHN DICKINSON of Milnthorpe SHE departed this Life 1 Ap MDCCLXX Aged 43 Years

As also Four children viz

AGNES Died 1763 ) 14 years RICHARD 12 Aug 1767 ) 16 years ELIZAB. 25 March 1768 ) BIRKBECK 10 Aug 1770 ) 11 years Drowned in Bathing )

Mr JOHN DICKINSON Husband and Father of the above died August the 10th MDCCLXXXIII Aged 62 Years."
