Description

Toll Bar Cottage is likely a mid-18th century toll house, now used as a private dwelling. It was altered and added to later. The building is constructed of wet-dashed rubble, with graduated slate roofs. It is set at a right angle to the road, with a two-storey gable end curved in plan, and single-storey outshuts flanking it. The rear of the building is the main entrance. The roadside elevation features a three-light casement window, with two-light casement windows on either side and above, all with stone mullions in stone surrounds. A wing at the centre of the rear has late 19th-century sash windows. A wet-dashed chimney runs across the ridge of the roof.
