Description

This is an early 18th-century house with an adjoining cottage, altered in the 19th century. The house is constructed of cement-rendered walls with a graduated greenslate roof and partly-rendered chimney stacks of red sandstone. It is two storeys high and originally had two bays, with a two-bay cottage attached to the right, all sharing a common roof. Eden Bank has a 20th-century door in a plain opening. The windows are casements, with flat stone mullions having been removed; the ground-floor windows were likely originally three-light, and the upper-floor windows two-light. The cottage has a cross-passage doorway to the left, with a lintel bearing an inscription and date, likely originally reading 1667 or 1676, although it is now very worn and is probably a reused feature. The cottage also has a 20th-century door set within a 19th-century painted stone surround, along with three-light flat stone-mullioned windows and a smaller window above the entrance. The interior of both properties has been altered. The rear of the house retains some small, original windows with chamfered surrounds.
