Description
Fox Tower, located to the north-west of Helbeck Hall, is an observation tower built around 1779 for Henry Alison, allowing him to watch the Hunt. The tower stands on a large drum-shaped base made of coursed rubble, with some internal brickwork. It does not have a floor or roof. The main structure is circular and features five semicircular-headed windows on the first floor, some of which are blocked. There is an entrance at the rear where it connects with a tall newel stair turret that resembles a chimney, which has an external door at the first floor level.
