Description
The Old Water Tower, located to the north of Seascale Sports Hall, is a three-stage water tower built in the late 19th century for the Furness Railway Company. It is constructed from rock-faced stone with ashlar bands and dressings, topped with a conical slate roof that is corbelled out at the top. The tower features a two-light single-chamfered mullioned window on both the first and third stages. There is an entrance on the south side with a shouldered lintel. To the north, a projecting stack has a round shaft, and the conical roof is adorned with a finial. This structure serves as a prominent landmark near the seashore.
