Description
The Seascale War Memorial, made of sandstone, is situated in the churchyard of the Church of St Cuthbert. It features a Celtic-style cross on top of a rectangular tapered shaft. The front and sides of the shaft are elaborately decorated with carved Scandinavian interlace designs, while the back displays a carved vine scroll.
On the front face, there is a relief inscription that reads: "IN GRATEFUL REMEMBRANCE OF THE MEN OF SEASCALE WHO DIED FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918 (NAMES) THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE."
The shaft stands on a three-stepped rectangular base.
