27/24 Steelfield Hall

II Large house, now Old People's Home; c1840 for Sir Humphrey Senhouse with later additions and alterations. Incised stucco. Hipped, graduated slate roof. U-shaped plan; symmetrical 2-storey, 5-bay front (1:3:1). Large panelled double door, with tall sash to either side, in central tetrastyle Greek Doric portico in antis. Large ground-floor sash to each projecting bay. 4 sashes, with sill bands, to 1st floor. All sashes have glazing bars and stucco pedimented heads. Chamfered plinth; bands between floors and to eaves. Cornice carries blocking course with antefixae to angles and blank shield in central pedimented frame. Central chimney.
