Description
Thomas Dixon's tombstone, dating from 1729, is located approximately 3 feet to the east of the Cross in St Mary's churchyard. It is a single slab with an integral moulded plinth. The tombstone features an inscription on a fielded panel that is flanked by fluted pilasters, which support a segmental pediment that encloses a winged head. The dimensions of the tombstone are 2¼ feet wide by 3¾ feet high. The inscription reads in script: "Hear lies th/ body of Tho/mas Dixon/ Son to Tho/mas Dixon /of Windhall/ who diy M/ay 3 1729 Ag/ 17 years (sic)."
