Description

Ann Southward's tombstone, dating from 1711, is located approximately 20 feet to the southeast of the cross in St Mary's churchyard in Gosforth. The tombstone is a single slab with chamfered edges and a shaped top, measuring 2 feet wide by 2.5 feet high. It features an inscription in serif lettering that reads: "Ann the/ Wife of Iohn/ Southward of Bank/ House died August/ ye 12 1711 Aged 36/ Yes (sic)."
