Description

William Dixon's tombstone, located approximately 13 feet to the east of the Cross in St Mary's churchyard, dates from 1729. It is a single slab with an ornately shaped head, measuring 2 feet wide and 2.5 feet high. The inscription is in script and reads: "Nigh to this place lies the body of Willia(m) Dixon who depart(ed) this life April (the ?) 1729 Aged (?) (sic)."
