Description
Lamonby Farmhouse and the adjoining barn are a mid-17th century farmhouse, cottage, and barn that have been converted into a house and barn. The buildings feature whitewashed clay walls and a steeply pitched thatched roof made of Norfolk reeds, which extends over the eaves. There are 20th-century brick chimney stacks. The barn has a corrugated iron roof.
The structure is single storey with an attic, consisting of a 3-bay former farmhouse, a 2-bay former cottage to the right, and a 5-bay barn to the left. The house and cottage share a common roof, while the barn has a slightly lower roof line. A 20th-century door with a wooden surround is present, along with 2- and 3-pane sash windows and small attic windows. There is a 20th-century whitewashed buttress between the house and cottage. The former cottage has similar windows and a blocked central door.
Both the farmhouse and cottage interiors are constructed using full cruck construction. The barn features a large plank cart entrance on the left and a plank door on the right, with its interior also of full cruck construction. A brick extension in front of the barn is not of interest. The restoration in 1981 included thatching the roof.
