Description
How Man is a farmhouse, cottage, and barn that has been converted into a house. It is marked with the initials and date BCA 1732 on a stone above the porch door, which may have been re-set. The building was remodeled in the 19th century. It features pebble-dashed rubble with sill bands on each floor and has a graduated slate roof with stone chimneys that are corniced at the mid and end. The structure is two storeys high and consists of five bays. The gabled porch includes a panelled door set in a chamfered stone surround with a four-centred head. There are two windows on either side of the porch and one on the north return, on each floor. All windows are three-light, stone mullioned, sashes, some of which have glazing bars, and each light has a four-centred head under hoodmoulds with labels. A 20th-century garage door has been inserted at the rear.
