Description

The Rosley war memorial, built in 1921, is a First World War memorial located in the churchyard of the Church of Holy Trinity, facing the main street. It is made of sandstone and features a simple, unadorned wheel head cross atop a rectangular-section shaft, which stands on a tapering plinth with a two-stepped base. The base has a rusticated finish on the riser edges. The plinth is inscribed with incised lettering that reads: "THIS MEMORIAL IS ERECTED/TO THE GLORY OF GOD/AND IN EVERLASTING MEMORY OF THE/MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO DIED ON SERVICE/IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918/THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE/[names]."
