Description
The railings and gate closing the west side of the quadrangle at St Bees School were built around 1842. They are constructed from ashlar stone with moulded copings. The central gate piers are octagonal and sit on moulded bases, featuring large caps with panelled sides. The wrought-iron railings have pointed standards between sections, and the wrought-iron gates also have pointed standards, adorned with scrollwork decoration on the top and lock rails. This structure is included for its group value.
