Description
54-56 Main Street is a pair of houses and a cottage, now functioning as a single property, dating from the mid-19th century with later alterations. The exterior features incised stucco, with Nos. 55 and 56 displaying rusticated quoins on a plinth, a cornice, and a lintel band at the second floor. No. 54 has a graduated slate roof with a stone chimney at the end, while Nos. 55 and 56 have a 20th-century concrete-tiled roof with rendered chimneys at the mid and end.
No. 54 is two storeys high with two bays, featuring a panelled door and a rectangular fanlight set in a stone surround, along with a sash window in a stone surround on each floor to the left. Nos. 55 and 56 rise to three storeys and consist of five bays. They have a paired Tuscan porch located in the third and fourth bays from the left, with only the left-hand door remaining; the right-hand door has been replaced by a window. Sash windows are present in stone surrounds throughout.
