Description

The war memorial, dedicated to the 1914-1918 War, is located in Egremont Market Place. It features a polished granite plinth that stands approximately 6 feet high on two steps and has a square shape. The central section of the plinth displays an inscription, and it is topped with a cornice that supports a life-size bronze statue of a World War I infantryman leaning on a rifle. Surrounding the memorial is an oval enclosure with wrought-iron railings that are about 2 feet high, featuring square standards, and there is a gate on the north side.
