Description
Waterend Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in 1864 and the 20th century. It features painted roughcast walls and is topped with a corrugated asbestos roof, along with roughcast chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and consists of four bays, with a contemporary two-bay extension at the rear that is at a right angle to the main structure.
The farmhouse has two- and three-light stone-mullioned windows with hoodmoulds, although some of the mullions have been removed, and there are additional 19th and 20th-century windows in plain reveals. At the rear, there is a 19th-century door situated under what was once a slated barn canopy. The rear outshut features a 19th-century door within a chamfered surround, also under a hoodmould. The extension retains 17th-century two-light stone-mullioned windows.
The interior underwent significant changes in 1864, which is noted on the floor tiles, and there is an inscription indicating the initials J.R. A built-in panelled court cupboard is dated and inscribed with I. & A.D. 1689.
