Description
Bromfield War Memorial is a First World War memorial built in 1920, located in the churchyard of St Mungo’s Church in Bromfield, Cumbria. It is prominently placed to the right just inside the churchyard entrance, next to the Greyhound Inn. The memorial features a wheel-head grey granite Celtic cross, which has knot work carvings on the head and upper shaft. Below, there are relief-carved inscriptions on the shaft, set on a sloped foot. The plinth also displays inscriptions in relief-carved lettering. The inscription reads: "TO THE/ GLORY OF/ GOD AND/ IN MEMORY/ OF THE MEN/ OF THIS PARISH/ WHO DIED FOR/ THEIR COUNTRY/ IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 1918/ (NAMES)."
