Description

Bolton Park is a farmhouse dated 1840, marked by a date inscription over the rear entrance for John Watson. The building features painted snecked ashlar with eaves modillions that support a cast-iron gutter and has a chamfered plinth. It has a graduated hipped greenslate roof and stands two storeys tall with three wide bays, along with rear extensions. The entrance includes a five-panel door beneath a patterned oblong fanlight, flanked by sidelights, all within a tetrastyle fluted Doric porch that has a modillion cornice. The façade is adorned with large tripartite stone-mullioned windows, with smaller two- and three-light windows above, all featuring hoodmoulds. Carved heads serve as label stops over the central window, with two similar larger heads at the left and right under the eaves. The extension has a 20th-century ground floor window and a sash window in a painted stone surround above. There is also a further single-storey extension and a 20th-century extension to the left of the house, which are not of interest.
