Description

Farmhouse. Dated 1840 over rear entrance for John Watson. Painted snecked ashlar, with eaves modillions supporting cast-iron gutter; chamfered plinth. Graduated hipped greenslate roof. 2 storeys, 3 wide bays with rear extensions. 5-panel door, under patterned oblong fanlight, with side lights in tetrastyle fluted Doric porch with modillion cornice. Large tripartite stone-mullioned windows with similar smaller 2- and 3-light windows above, all under hoodmoulds. Carved heads as label stops over central window and 2 similar larger heads at left and right under eaves. Extension has C20 ground floor window and sash in painted stone surround above. Further single-storey extension and C20 extension to left of house are not of interest.
