Description

Willowford and adjoining farm buildings is a farmhouse and associated farm structures, dated 1830 above the entrance. The buildings are constructed from squared and coursed calciferous sandstone rubble, partly made from stone sourced from the nearby Roman Wall, and feature raised quoins. The slate roof has coped gables and kneelers, with ashlar and 20th-century brick chimney stacks at the ends. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has three bays. The 20th-century door is framed by an alternate block surround and has a keyed and dated entablature. The ground floor has replacement casement windows with glazing bars, while the upper floor retains original sash windows, all with raised stone surrounds. The adjoining farmyard buildings enclose the yard on three sides and vary between one and two storeys. They are also built from stone from the Roman Wall, which has been partially removed for access to the farmyard. These buildings feature Welsh slate roofs, plank doors, and slit vents. The listing does not include the 20th-century breeze block garage extensions in the farmyard. All structures are situated between the Roman Wall and the vallum.
