Description

The stables east of Scaleby Castle are a stable block dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. They are constructed of red sandstone and brick, featuring sandstone dressings, and topped with a Welsh slate roof that includes some sandstone slates. The buildings form a four-sided enclosure around a cobbled courtyard, with a wide entrance leading towards the castle. The structure is single-storey with lofts above and consists of numerous bays. The plank doors feature both flat and round arches. The windows are a mix of sashes, diamond leaded casements, and wooden slat vents. Notably, the wall facing the castle has been rebuilt in 20th-century brick and includes large garage doors.
