Description

Church Close is a house, likely originally built as a schoolmaster's house or sexton's house, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of red sandstone ashlar with a slate roof featuring tile hips and a brick chimney stack on an ashlar base. The building is a single storey with two bays. The side entrance has a gabled porch with a pediment, which contains a 20th-century door and a pointed arch. The front features two-pane sash windows that have chamfered stone surrounds with hood moulds. The design is similar to that of the nearby school. The listing does not include a 20th-century extension at the rear. This building is included for its group value.
