Description
The sundial, located approximately 6 meters south of the Church of Holy Trinity, is possibly of medieval origin with a later shaft. It is constructed of ashlar stone. The sundial features a square base and an octagonal shaft that has broach stops at the lower end. The head of the sundial has chamfered angles at both the top and bottom, and it displays four shields: two bearing the Hudleston arms, one with the Chaucer arms, and one with the arms of Broughton, which became extinct in 1495. There is a mortice in the top for a round plate.
