Description

High Trees is an original farmhouse, likely built in the mid-17th century, with later additions and alterations. The building features rendered rubble construction with rusticated quoins on a chamfered plinth, a first-floor lintel band, and a cornice on the main house front. It has graduated slate roofs and stone end chimneys, and it stands two storeys tall. The north elevation has three bays and is symmetrical, with a central glazed door framed by sash windows on either side and three additional sash windows above. The east side has a 20th-century glazed door within the original chamfered surround, now located inside a porch, along with a three-light mullioned window to the left, which is topped by a continuous hoodmould. Above this, there are two original and one replica two-light mullioned windows. To the south is the byre range, which shares the same roof and includes three doors (one of which is now blocked) and a 20th-century inserted window on the ground floor, along with a loft door and window above, which may have been a former door. An adjoining barn range at right angles to the byres is not of interest.
