Description
The Priory, including the Coach House, is a house and stable block attached, built in 1888 by an unknown architect. It features a combination of brick and tile-hung construction with a tiled gable-end roof. The building is designed in an Old English style and has tall brick axial and gable-end stacks with moulded-stone caps.
The main range has a cross wing and is two storeys high with an attic. The principal elevation is asymmetrical and consists of three bays. On the left side, there is a jettied, tile-hung gable with pierced barge-boards and a wrought-iron weather vane. To the right, there are two large gabled oriels with leaded-pane windows that include mullions and transoms. The central entrance features a 3-centred arch moulded stone doorway with consoles and a cornice that supports a carved stone bracket for the oriel above. The entrance has panelled double doors, and there are pairs of stone mullioned and transomed windows on either side. The other elevations are treated similarly but with less elaboration, one of which has an attached verandah. The interior has not been inspected. The coach house is located to the left of the house.
