Description

Rose Manor is a manor house dating to 1686, as indicated by a datestone in the doorcase. The building is constructed of lias ashlar with a slate roof and follows a double-depth plan. It is two storeys high and features a symmetrical five-window front. The central entrance has a glazed door within a moulded stone doorcase, which incorporates panelled pilasters, a pulvinated frieze decorated with leaves, and a pediment above. Casement windows have wood mullions and retain their original glass, with stone heads and keystones. Moulded stone cornices and ashlar gable parapets with kneelers are present. The house has central brick stacks. A string course runs between the ground and first floors. The rear elevation is similar, with a 19th-century extension. The ground floor room on the left contains a large, 17th-century open fire with a moulded stone surround, alongside fielded panelling with a moulded cornice and beams. Similar panelling and beams are found in the room to the right.
