Description
The Sun is a house dating from the late 18th century, with a later wing at the rear. It is constructed of brick and has a slate roof laid to diminishing courses. The building has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, featuring a symmetrical three-window range. The central bay has a 20th-century entrance flanked by 20th-century fixed lights in original openings. The other windows are casements, with the first floor displaying original leaded lights, all featuring flat gauged brick arches, and the centre window consists of three lights. The central bay projects slightly forward and is topped with a simple pediment that includes an arch-headed attic window. The roof is hipped and has two flat-headed dormers, along with two brick stacks at the ridge. Inside, the rear wing, likely from the early 18th century, contains an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer. The building was used for a time as The Sun public house.
