Description
The Red House is an early 19th-century house located on The Green, Guilsborough. It is constructed of brick and has a 20th-century concrete tiled roof. The house follows a two-unit plan and presents a symmetrical three-window facade over three storeys. A 20th-century central door is flanked by bay windows, all sheltered by a shallow lean-to roof. A large central bay window is situated on the first floor, set within an arched recess that projects into the second floor. Other windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set beneath gauged brick arches. Storey-height wall projections flank the ground floor, featuring piers topped with ball finials. The ground floor was reputedly used as stables, and the arches of the original stables remain behind a 20th-century ground-floor extension.
