Grand Union Canal Little Braunston Bridge Number 4

This is a bridge on the Grand Union Canal, known as Little Braunston Bridge Number 4, built in the late 18th century. It is constructed from random flared and red brick, featuring a plain brick arch. At the base of the parapet, there is a brick string course, and the parapet has been patched on the right side. The parapet is topped with moulded brick coping, and a cast iron plaque displaying the bridge number is located above the arch. The Grand Junction Canal was authorized by an Act of Parliament in 1793, with the Braunston section completed by 1796. In 1929, the canal was taken over by the Grand Union Canal Company, leading to the name change.
