BRAUNSTON GRAND UNION CANAL SP56NW Little Braunston 4/79 Bridge No.4 GV II

Bridge. Late C18. Random flared and red brick. Plain brick arch. Brick string course at base of parapet. Parapet patched to right. Moulded brick coping to parapet. Cast iron plaque with number of bridge above the arch. The Grand Junction Canal was authorised by Act of Parliament in 1793. The Braunston section was complete by 1796. In 1929 it was taken over by the Grand Union Canal Company and the name was changed. (A.H. Faulkner: The Grand Junction Canal, 1972).
