Description
Underwood is a cottage located on Badby Vicarage Hill, dated 1611. It is constructed from coursed squared ironstone, featuring alternating courses of large and thin stones, with brick eaves and a corrugated iron roof. The building has brick end stacks, with the right stack resting on stone bases. It follows a one-unit lobby-entry plan and has two storeys plus an attic, with a two-window range. The entrance features a plank door with a gabled hood to the right. There are 20th-century two-light casements on the ground and first floors, each with timber lintels. Above the door, there is a datestone inscribed "AD 1611/TC." The cottage also has quoins. Inside, it features stop-chamfered spine beams, an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer, and a newel stair. The building was formerly thatched.
