Description

Piddington Lodge is a house, possibly originally a hunting lodge, dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone with a half-hipped slate roof, and stone end and ridge stacks on brick bases. The house is arranged in an L-shape. The two-storey main front, facing south, features a 20th-century door within a moulded wood surround and wood lintel, set within a 20th-century gabled porch. It has 12-pane horned sash windows with flat-arched heads and key blocks. Other features include a plinth, ironstone quoins, a storey band, moulded wood eaves, and an ironstone-coped gable to the left, incorporating kneelers. A rear wing to the right has 2-light casement windows to the garden side, each with a wood lintel. The interior contains chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, and a dog-leg staircase with turned balusters.
