Description
The stable block at Salcey Lawn is a building from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed from coursed squared limestone with limestone dressings and features an old plain-tile hipped roof with rendered ridge stacks. The building is rectangular, two stories high, and has a nine-window range.
The central entrance consists of a round-arched doorway with a plank door, an overlight, and a keyblock. There is a window to the left and another plank door with an overlight to the right, which was probably originally a window. Similar round-arched doorways are located to the left and right, flanked by windows. All ground floor windows have keyblocks and were originally leaded wood mullion and transom windows, though only the top lights remain, with the lower lights blocked. The first floor features 20th-century wood mullion and transom windows with keyblocks.
The building has a plinth, quoins, and a storey band. It was formerly used as stables for 18 horses, and some stalls still remain.
