Description
The Old Manor is a house dated 1681, with substantial restoration work carried out in 1981. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone with renewed limestone dressings, a thatch roof, and a brick ridge stack. The house is arranged with a three-unit lobby-entry plan, and it has two storeys and an attic, with a four-window front. A plank front door is positioned slightly right of centre, set within a moulded stone surround featuring a pulvinated frieze and moulded cornice. The ground floor has two-light, flat-faced stone mullion windows to the left and right, with matching surrounds, and two smaller single-light windows to the ground floor centre-left, with wooden lintels. The first floor features two-light, flat-faced stone mullion windows, also with eared stone surrounds. A plinth is present, with chamfered ironstone coping and ironstone quoins. There are six roosting holes on the first floor right of centre, and two roof dormers. The right gable end, facing the street, incorporates three-light, flat-faced stone mullion windows to the ground, first and attic floors, each with eared stone surrounds, pulvinated friezes, and moulded cornices. A datestone above the first-floor window is inscribed H/IH/1681. The interior contains spine beams with run-out stops, a corner fireplace and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer.
